The Power Of Our Words - Part 1
The same awesome voice that spoke when the worlds were framed and made, also said “let there be light,” (and there was light). He went on to say in Matt 26:11 “The poor you will always have with you…” and in Mark 11:24 “For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it].” This same God also said, “Let Us Make Man in Our Image.”
Proverbs 18:21 says, death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life].
Our words are extremely powerful. Have you ever had someone raise their voice in anger at you? Especially someone you care for. Or have you seen kids on the playground mercilessly taunt and tease another child. What is the typical result?
Have you ever had someone unexpectedly tell you “great job” or “I love you?” Has someone that you care for said to you “I believe in you and I know that you can accomplish anything you put your hand to?”
How does that feel in your spirit and what does it do for your soul? My mom used to always tell us kids, if you don’t have anything nice to say to someone, don’t say anything at all. My 7th grade Catholic nun would say, think before you ink! In other words, your words are powerful and can bring blessings or curses. EVEN WORDS SPOKEN OVER YOURSELF!
At one point in my life my dad told my mom concerning me, Tom can accomplish anything he will fully put his heart into. That statement launched me into my destiny…full of faith. My pastor, boss and father in the faith, John Wimber, once told me that as far as he and his wife were concerned I could be mayor of our town and that everything I did brought blessing. WOW! Talk about speaking life in to someone.
Pastor John also afforded me many opportunities to exercise the gifts and callings God had placed in me. I went on to travel the world with him doing healing conferences, produce 30 plus worship recordings, and produce some live productions through which many came to the saving knowledge of Christ.
I would encourage anyone reading this to carefully think about the words you will say today. Your words carry tremendous weight and can impact a person’s life for years to come. Get into the Word of God. The Healing Bible and CD is a fantastic resource.
Finally, get around happy people who love life, laugh and speak life. We do become like those we spend time with…
Much love,
Tom Davis
